Researchers from the Hunan Normal University (HNNU)–University of Lancashire Joint Programme are taking a leading role in advancing ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices in China. Dr. Bingjie (Brittany) Wang, a postdoctoral researcher and faculty member of the Joint Programme, along with colleagues from the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Hunan Normal University, have recently spearheaded key collaborations through their co-founded initiative, Zeshan Consulting.
In July 2025, the team entered into an ESG service agreement with key environmental protection company, and on 9 September 2025, they signed a landmark cooperation with Hunan Xiangfeng Tea Group Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese tea exporter and a core supplier to Lipton. Zeshan Consulting will provide Xiangfeng with comprehensive ESG services, including its 2025 Sustainability Report and EU compliance support.

These partnerships not only demonstrate the strong academic expertise of Hunan Normal University and the Joint Programme but also reflect the university’s commitment to serving regional and national development priorities. By combining cutting-edge research with practical consulting, the team is setting a benchmark for how universities can drive high-quality development in emerging fields such as ESG.
The initiative has received strong support from the leadership of Hunan Normal University, whose emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and global engagement continues to empower faculty and researchers to achieve excellence. Beyond these agreements, Dr. Wang and colleagues are actively engaging with other listed companies and state-owned enterprises in Hunan Province, further expanding the scope and influence of ESG practices across key industries. Their work positions the Joint Programme as an important platform for international collaboration, knowledge transfer, and sustainable development.
