Hunan Normal University, founded in 1938 and located in the famous historical and cultural city of Changsha, is one of the key universities under the "211 Project" in China, the national "Double First-Class" construction university, the Ministry of Education and Hunan Province to jointly build the " Double First-Class " construction university, and the Ministry of Education assessed the undergraduate teaching level of ordinary institutions of higher learning as an excellent university. The university covers an area of nearly 495 acres, with a construction area of 1.33 million square meters, and is one of the "400 best" greening units in China.
The university has 24 colleges and 94 undergraduate majors. Undergraduate and graduate education covers 12 major disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary studies. The school has 6 national key disciplines, including ethics, English language and literature, modern Chinese history, developmental biology, theoretical physics, and basic mathematics. Foreign language and literature have been selected as "world-class construction disciplines" by the country. Chemistry, clinical medicine, materials science, engineering science, plant and animal science, environment and ecology, physics, biology and biochemistry, mathematics, general social sciences, and computer science have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings. 18 disciplines have been selected as key disciplines in Hunan Province during the 14th Five Year Plan period, including sports science. We have 20 first level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 3 categories authorized for doctoral professional degrees, as well as 20 postdoctoral research stations. It has 17 national level talent training and scientific research bases (centers), including the Chinese Ethics and Civilization Research Center, a key research base for humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education, the Key Research Center for Sports and Social Sciences under the General Administration of Sport of China, the Cultural and Tourism Research Base under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It has 2 national and local joint engineering laboratories, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 1 engineering research center of the Ministry of Education, and numerous national and provincial high-level scientific research platforms. We have 9 national level characteristic major construction sites, 49 national level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 national level talent training mode innovation experimental zones, 10 national level quality courses, 2 national level ideological and political demonstration courses, 9 national level quality resource sharing courses, 49 national level first-class undergraduate courses, 6 national level quality video open courses, 3 national level bilingual teaching demonstration courses, 15 national level teaching achievement awards, 4 national level experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 2 national university student off campus practical education bases. We are the implementation unit of the "National College Student Innovation Experimental Plan" project, a demonstration university for "National Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform".

   The school currently has nearly 3600 faculty members, including over 2300 full-time teachers. Among them, there is 1 academician of the CAS Member, 2 academicians of the CAE Member, 4 academicians of the European Academy of Sciences, 3 members of the Discipline Review Group of the State Council, 1 member of the Academic Department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, 52 candidates of national major talent projects, 4 national teaching teams. There are 85 recipients of special allowances from the State Council, 5 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to the country, 2 leading talents in science and technology innovation among young and middle-aged people in the Ministry of Science and Technology, 4 national teaching masters, 10 leading talents in science and technology in Hunan Province. There are 28 candidates for the Hunan High level Talent Gathering Project, 4 leading talents of think tanks in Hunan Province, and 3 outstanding young talents of think tanks.

   The school has established cooperation and exchange relationships with 207 universities and institutions in 52 countries and regions, carried out personnel exchanges, teaching and scientific research cooperation. The school library has a collection of nearly 4.3 million books, including over 240000 ancient books, and has subscribed to 117 various literature databases. The school hosts 16 publicly available academic journals, including 6 national Chinese core journals. The school publishing house is listed as one of the "Top 100 Book Publishing Units in China" and a national first-class publishing house.

   Since its establishment, the school has produced over 500000 graduates for the country, trained a large number of international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and has alumni all over the world. There are over 40000 students in school, including more than 14000 graduate students and nearly 1000 international students in both long- and short-term programs, forming a multi standard and multi-level educational pattern.
