Cheng Shu is a lecturer at the College of Physical Education, Hunan Normal University. She received the degree of bachelor and master on physical education at Hangzhou Normal University (China) and achieved Ph.D degree in kinesiology (physical education) at KU Leuven (Belgium). Her doctoral research focused on physical education, especially in improving childrens physical activity level and skill performance during physical education lessons and recess settings. Also, she involved some projects of physical education teacher education (PETE), content knowledge, and teaching effectiveness throughout her Ph.D journey. She is passionate with diverse sports, such as tennis, badminton, basketball, track and field ect.


She has published three peer-review papers (https://doi.org/10.1080/17408989.2023.2194897; https://doi.org/10.1123/jtpe.2020-0166; https://doi.org/10.1123/jtpe.2023-0193) in top journals of physical education and sport pedagogy domain as first and corresponding author in recent years, namely Journal of Teaching in Physical Education (JTPE) and Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy (PESP). Additionally, she has published other peer-review papers as co-author in Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, as well as Preventive Medicine Reports journal for instance. During her Ph.D journey, she has participated the academic conference (AIESEP, SHAPE America) and did more than 10 oral presentations. Since 2025, Dr. Shu Cheng serves as associate editor in Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise.
